First Friday Shows W/ Scott Church

First Friday started out as a vision in the mind of Scott Church’s that quickly became reality when he sat down w/ 717 Entertainment Creator Nick Meyers. Scott’s Art studio located in downtown Lebanon is a beautiful building w/ a garage that resembles a club set w/ a stage and all. The city began a street fair for the first Friday of every month, an event that Scott needed to be a part of. He is one of the most influential people in the city w/ his world renowned photography. Always trying to give back to the community he chose to do an art exhibit in his Annex Gallery the first Friday of each month. These exhibits would be free and showcase the art of many local and regional artists, photographers and models. His vision was to have bands in the garage w/ an open door that leads straight out into a large parking lot. In march Nick came to sit w/ Scott about an entirely separate topic. Upon the conclusion of that meeting Scott walked him out on the stage and pitched the idea of 717 Entertainment being the music director for First Friday. Without hesitation he accepted & thus 717 Entertainment Presents First Friday w/ Scott Church was born. Originally scheduled to begin June 6th the event wasn’t perfected yet and was pushed to July. The show has now concluded for the 2018 season. In This section I’ll document each months edition of the show as well as include pictures and all the other information you’ll need to see in order for you to say “I’d like to attend that next year”.

FIRST FRIDAY AUGUST 3RD 2018 (THE ONE W/ CANCELLATIONS)

THE LINEUP:
06:00 - 07:15 - KEVIN KOA
07:30 - 08:45 - HOT AND DANGEROUS (Harrisburg, PA)
09:00 - 09:45 - AFTER THE BROKEN (Baltimore MD)

THE ANNEX GALLERY
5:00 - 07:00 - SPIRITSTONE (Carlisle, PA)

This show was an absolute disaster from a booking standpoint. Originally the show was to Feature Elisium from North Carolina
American Grim from New Jersey as well as well as a DJ from the Lebanon area. Before that lineup was solidified their was a
mystery guest announced to appear which was a Baltimore band who was unable to do it so it became a search for the mystery
guests. That turned out to be American Grim from Jersey. Upon waking up Friday morning (yes, the day of the show) Nick checked
his Facebook to see Elisium, American Grim and the DJ had cancelled leaving him w/ only two acts on the show. In the midst of a
mad scramble Kevin Koa was willing to play on short notice so he was put on first and agreed to play a bit over an hour to fill in
for the lack of a fourth band. Hot and Dangerous were also gracious enough to play every song in their arsenal on the evening. One
more fill in was signed on however cancelled around 6:30 which is when kevin was asked to play longer which he of course did. The
night was closed by After The Broken who had been on the show from the start (along w/ Hot and Dangerous). Nick has said that he
never had a show so hard to book in his 10 year career, however it went off well w/ music from 6-10 as promised and some fun times
in between. Its worth noting that a local Lebanon man rode his bike into the garage w/ his guitar and Nick and Scott gave the man
15 minutes to play some jazz and Jimi Hendrix while Kevin Koa (who had never met this guy before) played drums. It was an unreal
scene that you had to see to believe.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH 2018 (THE PERFECT ONE)

THE LINEUP:
06:00 - 06:45 - INVICTUM (SUNBURY, PA)
07:00 - 07:45 - TUBEFREEKS (BALTIMORE, MD)
08:00 - 08:45 - MOJO BOZO’S ELECTRIC CIRCUS (ANNAPOLIS MD)
09:30 - 09:55 - THE STONEWALL VESSELS (LANCASTER PA)

IN THE GALLERY 5-7PM
REESE S & THE PLAYGROUND (LEBANON, PA)

DJ DAVID STYLES IN BETWEEN ACTS OUTSIDE

This was an interesting one in that it featured everything Scott and Nick had envisioned even the DJ up top spinning in between acts
and pumping up the crowd all night long. The performances were off the chart and Mojo Bozo arguably played the best performance
of the whole season. Reese S played in the gallery and ran sound outside. The clouds really kept the crowd away as many feared the
rain as well as the fact that Scott did not do the gallery show this month, it was left up to an outside party. When we look back at the
Season this one will be the one we take most notes from as it was done perfectly. The show was put on hold as The Stonewall Vessels
were late getting there. Two members came across the parking lot, shirtless and hopped right on stage ready to play. It ended up being
a short set as time was set to run out, however it was a stellar performance…

IN THE GALLERY FROM 5-7PM:
KEVIN KOA (DUNCANNON, PA)

The final first Friday of 2018 was a good one, horror themed and Scott Church’s birthday version. The Gallery was done up w/ horror themes
as was the garage area. The show was headlined by The Split Pistols who ironically opened the first First Friday in June making the show
Come full circle through 4 months. The show also welcomed back Haela who headlined the first show in june. It was to feature a rap rock
group called Alpha Audio, however they were forced to drop off and Ed Allison filled in his place. Windchill debuted his Guitarist The Unknown
soldier at this show. It went over very well.
